N-Gage is an innovative and rapidly expanding charity that works with young people to enable them to reach their full potential. N-Gage believes it is vital that young people attain the full benefit from their education and take responsibility for their behaviour. The charity strives to develop positive citizenship. The candidate must be in full agreement with the mission and ethos of the charity and set an example in team life and commitment.
Catalyst is our detached and centre based youth work project which operates from a mobile youth centre to facilitate workshops for 9-18-year olds at locations across Greater Manchester. The Catalyst Sessional Staff role involves playing a key role in the delivery of these youth work sessions on a week day evening.
Under the guidance and support of your Team Leader deliver the Catalyst programme at locations across Greater Manchester. This includes spending time with young people, acting as a positive role model, investing time in their interests and proactively seeking to understand what motivates and challenges them; engaging in a range of sport and social activities both on and off the mobile youth vehicle; ensuring the welfare of the young people and the N-Gage team through education in such areas of their life as financial and emotional health.
With direction from your Team Leader or Manager play an active role in any Transform community action projects or residential trips which may be included in the Catalyst area in which you are working.
Encourage the development of young people holistically (spiritually, emotionally and physically) in line with N-Gage’s beliefs and key aims.
Be an enthusiastic ambassador of the N-Gage charity, actively seeking to increase the profile of the charity, and its support base through financial giving; with an aim to attend events held by N-Gage.
Consider how each young person that you come into contact with may be able to progress into other N-Gage programmes or other partner agency services.
Work with local agencies to support existing provision and develop strategies for engagement of hard to reach young people.
