Career Transition WorkshopsKatie2019-11-18T11:22:48+00:00
From teacher to Cyber Headhunter – ‘The courses enabled me to identify all of the transferable skills that I had gained and developed throughout my time as a teacher and to realise how these would be useful within a more corporate environment. I gained confidence and the belief that even without direct experience I could demonstrate how I could apply these skills to a prospective employer.’ Jack
Here at Did Teach we have teamed up with 18-07 Careers to bring you two amazing courses focused on helping teachers make that transition from classroom to corporate.
‘I am so glad I decided to invest the time and money into such a useful event, I have walked away feeling extremely positive and optimistic about my future prospects.’ Aanika – Mathematics Teacher
The workshops will be held at GL Assessment Head Office – you will have the opportunity to speak with their staff who are former teachers.
‘How to find and secure the right role’
Career Direction What do you truly want to do? Morning Workshop 10:00-1:00 Career, transferable skills and networking
Career – Knowing where to start and how to get there can be daunting. We can help you identify potential industries you may want to go into. We believe that there is not just one perfect path for you but many. We help you recognise those options (and how to get there).
Transferable skills – Understanding yourself, what you are you good at and what do you need to work on. Identifying where you can add value is key, and we will help you do that.
Networking – Around 65% of people find jobs through networking. Knowing how to network, where to look and what to say are important skills in getting you closer to where you want to be in your career.
“Finding a job is hard but finding the job was made so much easier when you have a team of specialists on your side, they were working in my best interests all the time.”
Key Skills How to articulate your skills to the maximum
Afternoon Workshop 1:30-4:30 CV, covering letters, application and interview skills
CVs – The starting point for most people is the CV – and it is crucial to get it right. We can ensure you have a CV you are proud of and have specific structure and content we teach, so that you can best articulate your skills and experience to specific careers.
Covering letters and application – This is your chance to show where you can add value to a potential employer. We train you in what the employer is looking for and how you should approach covering letters and applications, including what to put in (and not put in!).
Interview skills – Practice and preparation are key for interviews. Most people do not interview often and so lack the confidence and knowledge to put themselves across in the best manner. We go into detail about what you should be saying and doing in interviews, building your confidence and competency.
“18-07 helped me tailor my CV for the role I was applying for and coached in me in interview techniques. I felt fully prepared in going forward with applying and participating in interviews.”
